You will have been asked by a member of our staff over the telephone to provide consent for us to undertake a credit search on you and any other joint applicant (who will also need to provide his/her consent). You should be aware that a record of the search might be retained by the credit reference agency. As part of this credit search you will be consenting to our checking your details with a fraud prevention agency/agencies and you should be aware that if you give false or inaccurate information and fraud is suspected then this would be recorded. You should understand that lenders and other organisations may use and search these records to help make decisions about credit and credit related services. These records may also be used to help make decisions on motor, household, credit, life and other insurance proposals and claims for yourself and members of your household. They may also be used to trace debtors, recover debt, prevent fraud, check identity to prevent money laundering (if insufficient proof has been furnished to your mortgage provider), and also to manage your accounts or insurance policies.
